I have a cat that needed his nails trimmed and some hair shaved off that was matted. So I called Barlow Trail to make an appointment due to the fact my veterinary is now closed. When I called I asked how much it would cost for those 2 services. The lady that answered the phone said she couldn't give me an amount. I asked if she could just guess maybe like $100 $500 $1000 something? She said she couldn't say either way. She then told me that they had to have a $100 deposit to hold the appointment. So I gave her my credit card. They actually put $103 on my credit card. I took my cat in to have those 2 services done. When I was there I was told my cat had to have a physical to be seen. Funny there's no other place that I know of that needs to have a physical to have nails trimmed and a little bit of hair cut off. When the vet looked at my cat she told me he needed some diet food that was $68 for 9lbs. I explained that I had recently lost my husband of 30 plus years so I couldn't afford things that weren't necessary at the time. Then I'm told my cat needed some shots. He's a indoor only cat so I past on the shots. What is so upsetting about this is I asked(more than once) what they would be charging and she couldn't tell me a thing. But when I was done they sure came up with a price for it all. They charged $52.89 to trim nails and $54.55 for 5 minutes of shaving hair. They charged me a told of 10 minutes for shaving which is hard to believe they spent 10 minutes shaving on my cat. They should give their high prices over the phone so people are aware of them and can decide if they can afford their services. They can not say they don't know what they charge for their services cause they absolutely do. That's crazy!!!! - Teresa Troglin

Choosing a veterinary clinic is a deeply personal decision, and Barlow Trail Veterinary Clinic offers compelling reasons for Oregon pet owners to make it their choice. The primary reason is their rare combination of professional expertise and genuine, heartfelt compassion. While some clinics may focus solely on medical procedures, Barlow Trail takes a holistic approach that considers the emotional well-being of the pet and the comfort of the owner. They strive to be a supportive community where your questions and concerns are always welcome, which is a significant factor, especially during stressful times.

Another key benefit is the sheer breadth of their services. The clinic’s ability to treat not only small household pets but also large and exotic animals is a rare and valuable asset in the region. For owners with diverse animal families, this means they can rely on a single, trusted source for all their veterinary needs. The added convenience of mobile veterinary services and house calls further solidifies their position as a truly client-focused practice. This is particularly helpful for those who live on farms or have pets that do not handle car travel well.

The emphasis on preventive care is also a major reason to choose this clinic. They believe that a proactive approach, including regular exams, dental care, and proper nutrition, is the key to a long and healthy life for your pet. While a customer review mentioned concerns about pricing transparency for specific services like nail trims and shaving, it is important to note that the clinic's comprehensive approach often requires a full physical examination to ensure there are no underlying health issues before minor services are performed. This is a standard practice in veterinary medicine, reflecting a commitment to thorough, responsible care rather than simply providing a quick, isolated service. The positive experiences, such as the one shared by a client whose dog's vision issues were correctly diagnosed by Dr. Woodruff when others could not, highlight the clinic's diagnostic skill and expertise. These are the moments when a vet's knowledge and dedication truly shine, and it's what makes Barlow Trail Veterinary Clinic a worthwhile and dependable choice for pet owners across Oregon.
