- Animal Necropsy (Autopsy): This is a primary service where a thorough post-mortem examination is conducted on an animal to determine the cause of death. This includes macroscopic examination of organs and tissues. As highlighted by reviews, this service is crucial for pet owners who "couldn't stand not knowing what happened" after a sudden passing.
- Histopathology: Microscopic examination of tissue samples collected during necropsies or biopsies. This involves preparing tissue slides and analyzing them under a microscope to identify cellular changes, diseases, or abnormalities that may not be visible to the naked eye.
- Clinical Pathology: Analysis of blood, urine, and other body fluids to diagnose diseases. While C E Kord primarily focuses on post-mortem and tissue diagnostics, clinical pathology can be part of a broader diagnostic process.
- Microbiology and Culture: Identification of bacterial, fungal, or other microbial infections from tissue samples, crucial for pinpointing infectious causes of illness or death.
- Toxicology Screening: Analysis of samples for the presence of toxins or poisons that might have contributed to an animal's illness or death.
- Disease Surveillance: Contributing to public and animal health by identifying emerging diseases or patterns of illness within animal populations.
- Expert Consultation: Providing professional interpretation of findings and consultation with referring veterinarians or pet owners to explain results in an understandable manner. As a customer noted, the "necropsy results were explained to us in a way we could understand."
- Full Diagnostic Reports: Issuing comprehensive written reports detailing findings, diagnoses, and interpretations, which can be retained for records and shared with primary veterinarians. Reports are "sent to us via email to retain for our records."
- Support for Pet Owners: Beyond the technical services, they provide compassionate guidance and respectful handling of pet remains during an incredibly difficult time. They "went above and beyond in being sure we had sufficient time and handled our furbaby in a very respectful manner."
- Specialized Diagnostic Expertise: The primary highlight is their deep specialization in animal pathology, particularly necropsies. This focus means they possess advanced knowledge and equipment specifically for diagnosing diseases and determining causes of death in animals, a service not commonly available at general veterinary clinics.
- Exceptional Compassion and Empathy: Despite the scientific nature of their work, the staff consistently demonstrates "utmost compassion and respect" for grieving pet owners. From "Jennifer and the other half at intake" to the "super sweet ladies who took our dog's remains," every interaction is marked by kindness and understanding, even during "difficult time."
- Clear and Understandable Communication: Clients praise the ability of the veterinarians to explain complex "necropsy results in a way we could understand." This clear communication provides much-needed clarity and comfort during emotional periods.
- Seamless Process and Professionalism: The entire process, from initial contact to receiving results, is described as "seamless." The staff is efficient and organized, ensuring that a sensitive and challenging situation is handled with maximum professionalism.

C E Kord Animal Disease Reviews
Jennifer and the other half at intake were so kind. The doctor was also nice. My little Rocky boy will get a necropsy ( animal autopsy).
Jan 23, 2024 · Patricia MannionThis company is wonderful! Following the sudden overnight passing of our beloved furbaby, we couldn't stand not knowing what happened. We contacted this company after our local vet stated CE Kord was the place to go for animal necropsies, and the entire process was seamless. All of the staff from the front desk clerk, to the vet tech, to the super sweet ladies who took our dog's remains from us (they really went above and beyond in being sure we had sufficient time and handled our furbaby in a very respectful manner), to the veterinarian who called us with the results, every single person treated us with the utmost compassion and respect. The necropsy results were explained to us in a way we could understand and the full report was sent to us via email to retain for our records. To have such wonderful and caring people show so much empathy and get us the answers we so desperately needed was a huge blessing and comfort to us during this difficult time.
Nov 21, 2024 · Shandi FleemanI found my pet Birman dead in a neighbors drive way. He did not have any obvious injuries and had not been sick. I spoke with my vet and she recommendedthe C. E. Kord Animal Disease office at the Ellington Agricutural Center on Hogan Road to do an autopsy. An autopsy was done and the pathologist said he died of blunt force trauma. I asked if he had been hit by a car and she said yes. This office and pathologist were so kind to me and I had an answer the very next day.
