For pet owners across Nebraska, securing a veterinarian who combines extensive professional expertise with genuine compassion is the key to a pet’s long and healthy life. **Companion Care Veterinary Clinic** in Lincoln, NE, stands out as a highly trusted animal hospital, deeply rooted in the community and dedicated to providing comprehensive, personalized care for dogs, cats, and small mammals.
At the heart of this respected practice is **Dr. Doug Oxley, D.V.M.**, a licensed veterinarian who has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 20 years, dedicating more than 15 of those years to serving the Lincoln area at Companion Care. Dr. Oxley, originally from Southeast Nebraska, brought his education from Kansas State University to establish the clinic in August 2009. His deep experience and dedication mean that every patient benefits from consistent, knowledgeable medical attention.
The philosophy at Companion Care Veterinary Clinic is simple but profound: to treat every pet like the valued family member they are. The entire staff, from the veterinary assistants to the administrative team, strives to create a comfortable, calm, and kid-friendly environment. This focus on a low-stress setting helps pets relax and even look forward to their visits. They are dedicated to not only treating illness but also educating pet lovers on disease prevention and ongoing nutrition, which they view as the best foundation for a happy, healthy life.
What truly distinguishes this clinic, as attested by long-time local clients, is the practice’s commitment to early and accurate diagnosis, often paired with very reasonable pricing. One powerful testimonial highlights Dr. Oxley's ability to catch a dog’s early-stage heart failure, leading to years of extended quality life—a testament to his diligence in full physical exams and internal medicine. This proactive approach underscores the clinic's belief that preventative care is often easier, more comfortable, and less costly than treating advanced conditions.

They focus on providing high-quality service while also aiming to make excellent veterinary care more accessible and affordable for the community. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- Dr. Oxley told me when my dog started in heart failure right away but told me he might live maybe 2 more years, but it is hard to say. I started him on the medicine he recommended. I have since moved away to a couple different and other vets confirm the heart failure and have stayed with the same course of treatment. Anyway, it’s been almost 6 years and my dog is still alive!!! I credit this to Dr. Oxley catching his condition early. I haven’t found a vet as good as Dr. Oxley since moving away and also his prices are VERY reasonable compared to elsewhere. We miss Dr. Oxley! This is a photo of my dog at age 16 thanks to Dr. Oxley catching his heart failure early!!!! January 19 · George Gwendolyn
- Dr. Oxley and staff are the nicest and most caring vet clinic I've ever been to. He has been my vet for over 10 years now and I wouldn't move for anything. October 21 · Jackie Gapp
- Have a dog and a cat and this has been my vet to go at all times. They are caring and will charge you reasonable prices. Nothing bad with my experiences every time I have been there. My cat and dog have had surgeries performed by them. Vaccinations and regular checkups everything has been good! No complained. July 03 · Judith Gonzalez
- My daughter recommended this doctor for my kitties. I’ve never been more pleased with pet care! Everyone is so friendly and I feel like they really care about my kitties unlike some just doing their job. I highly recommend this clinic! April 24 · lori saylor
- I was hesitant at first because of my last vet experience to take Baby to any vet. But since Baby was having babies I needed the help. Companion Care is awesome and will treat your Baby like their own. 💙🩷 June 25 · Laura “Lo” O
