This unique organization goes beyond typical clinic services, embodying a mission to address pet overpopulation and provide a safe haven for homeless and unplaceable pets.
His Hands Extended Sanctuary operates with a dual purpose: to offer high-quality veterinary care to the public and to serve as a no-kill animal rescue and sanctuary. This integrated approach means that every visit supports a broader mission of compassion and community welfare. The team, including dedicated veterinarians like Eric and owner Tonya, is driven by a genuine passion for animals, providing a level of care that resonates deeply with clients. They are a place where every animal, whether a beloved family pet or a rescued stray, is treated with dignity, care, and the hope of a good life.
His Hands Extended Sanctuary is located at 1560 Dialton Rd, St Paris, OH 43072, USA. This rural setting in St. Paris, Ohio, while seemingly off the beaten path, offers strategic advantages for its mission and accessibility for local residents. St. Paris is situated in Champaign County, providing access to communities throughout central and western Ohio.
Dialton Road, though not a major highway, is typically well-maintained and provides straightforward access for those traveling from nearby towns like Urbana, Springfield, or even further afield within the Dayton metropolitan area. The location benefits from being central enough to serve a broad regional population, particularly those who are seeking affordable spay/neuter services or are involved in animal rescue efforts.
For pet owners bringing their animals for veterinary appointments, the location offers a relatively calm and less congested environment compared to urban clinics. This can be particularly beneficial for anxious pets. While the sanctuary's primary focus is on its mission, its veterinary clinic is open to the public, making quality and affordable care available to anyone willing to make the drive.
The accessibility of His Hands Extended Sanctuary underscores its commitment to serving the wider Ohio community, not just those immediately within St. Paris. By offering essential services in a dedicated facility, they provide a much-needed resource for responsible pet ownership and animal welfare initiatives across the state.
His Hands Extended Sanctuary offers a focused yet impactful range of veterinary services, primarily centered around addressing pet overpopulation and providing fundamental care. Their services are designed to be accessible and impactful for the community.
- Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic: This is a cornerstone of their services. They provide high-quality, affordable spaying and neutering for both cats and dogs. This critical service helps control pet overpopulation in surrounding communities, which is a major contributor to animal homelessness. In 2019 alone, they performed thousands of spay and neuter surgeries, demonstrating their significant impact.
- Routine Vaccinations: Essential vaccinations for cats and dogs are offered to protect them from common and serious diseases, contributing to overall community animal health.
- Deworming and Flea Treatment: Basic parasitic control measures are provided to ensure the health and comfort of pets.
- Dental Cleanings: As evidenced by their 2019 statistics, they perform dental cleanings, which are vital for maintaining good oral health in pets.
- Medical Care for Sanctuary Animals: For the animals under their direct care within the sanctuary (which can include dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, chickens, goats, pigs, and even a donkey), they provide comprehensive medical attention, including treatment for injuries and illnesses, as noted in the review of the "wounded stray male."
- Pet Adoption Services: They actively work to find forever homes for homeless pets. Animals available for adoption are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and treated for parasites before placement.
- Forever Home for Unplaceable Pets: For animals that are not adopted, the sanctuary provides a permanent, no-kill home in a cage-free environment (for cats) and with large, chain-linked yards and heated kennels (for dogs).
- Rescue Services: They actively rescue animals from abandonment, abuse, puppy mills, and high-kill shelters, giving these animals a second chance at life.
His Hands Extended Sanctuary distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights that underscore its unique mission and impactful presence in the Ohio animal welfare landscape.
- Dual Mission of Clinic and Sanctuary: One of their most significant highlights is operating as both a public-facing veterinary clinic and a no-kill animal rescue/sanctuary. This integrated approach means that public support for their veterinary services directly contributes to the care of hundreds of rescued animals, fostering a stronger community bond.
- Affordable and Accessible Spay/Neuter: Their dedicated low-cost spay/neuter clinic is a critical feature, making essential pet population control measures accessible to a broader segment of the Ohio population. This directly combats pet overpopulation, a major animal welfare issue, and is highly praised by clients for its reasonable pricing.
- Compassionate and Professional Staff: Reviews consistently highlight the "wonderful" and "professional help" provided by the staff, including the veterinarians (like Eric) and the owner (Tonya). Their genuine care is evident in how they treat both owned pets and rescued animals, ensuring a positive experience even in challenging situations.
- Dedicated Care for Strays and Rescues: The sanctuary's commitment to taking in "wounded stray" animals and providing them with professional help showcases their deep dedication to animal welfare beyond just owned pets. They offer a lifeline to abandoned, abused, and neglected animals.
- No-Kill Philosophy: As a no-kill organization, His Hands Extended Sanctuary provides a lifelong promise of care for unadoptable animals, ensuring that no animal is euthanized due to lack of space or resources. This creates a true haven for hundreds of dogs, cats, and other farm animals.
- Extensive Animal Population: The sheer number and variety of animals they house (200 dogs, 250 cats, plus rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, chickens, goats, pigs, and a donkey) demonstrate the massive scale of their rescue and sanctuary efforts, showcasing their significant impact on animal lives.
- Community-Oriented Approach: Beyond direct veterinary services, they actively work with surrounding communities to control pet overpopulation and find homes for homeless pets, serving as a vital community resource.

His Hands Extended Sanctuary Reviews
His Hands Extended Sanctuary is a wonderful clinic. I took a wounded stray male to get professional help, and that is exactly what he received. Thank you to the vet, Eric, and to the owner, Tonya, for helping Moo feel better
Jun 22, 2025 · Brenda HarklessHHES was awesome with the spaying of our 2 cats. Reasonable prices. Will definitely use them again.
May 30, 2025 · Michelle SiddersExcellent care given to my dog. The vet took time to explain to me what my dog needed and made sure I understood exactly how to give my new dog the medicine he had prescribed. The cost of care was a pleasant surprise also. I will definitely be taking my pet to His Hands Extended as needed in the future.
Jun 03, 2025 · Juanita SmithI want to start off by saying that I hate to be leaving this review, because I know this place makes services available to people who couldn't otherwise afford them. But I would not trust my animals in their care again. After getting a quote from another vet for $500 for a spay, I decided to go to His Hands to spay my cat. I put my cat in a recovery suit immediately upon picking her up, which she wore 24/7, and three days later, her incision opened. The clinic was closed (it was a Thursday night when the incision opened, and they're only open 3 days a week), so I had to take her to a local vet who charged me $450 to re-sedate her and repair the incision. They said they had treated several other animals *just that week* with the same issue from the same place, some of whom had to be surgically repaired.I emailed them to ask for help with the bill, and they never even replied. Not a "sorry, but we can't help", nothing. If this place is all you can afford, then do what you must. But if you can even remotely afford to go anywhere else, go there instead.
Jun 01, 2025 · Juniper FinchMy 1st visit was recent, the Vet treated my 2 baby felines with care, I felt he went beyond & showed he really cares, not like other Vets. He didn't charge an arm & a leg either. I will be returning. The entire office staff shows the care. God Bless them for taking good care of God's creatures He entrusted to us.
