My cat Toby first saw Dr Maxwell in 2022 for uveitis in his right eye. She continued to treat his condition and pain until it could no longer be managed and he required an enucleation. At this point he was in a lot of pain and his eyeball was HUGE! Dr Maxwell recommended he receive the surgery ASAP BUT because she is a specialist, the cost of the surgery would be significantly more than regular vets, and way out of my means. He needed this surgery immediately so she actually recommended me to start calling other offices to find a cheaper surgeon! She didn’t care about the money that she was losing, she wanted Toby better.Lo and behold, a nurse I work with is also a vet and she gave me a huge discount at her clinic and my Toby is alive and well!Thank you Dr Maxwell for keeping my boy alive and treating him with such compassion. - Amber Maas

Sarah Maxwell, MS, DVM, DACVO Introduce

In Oregon, our connection to our pets runs deep. As we share our lives with them, we also become responsible for their health and happiness. While our general practice veterinarians are the first line of defense for routine care, there are times when a pet's health concern requires a more specific and advanced level of expertise. This is particularly true for specialized fields like veterinary ophthalmology, where the intricate and delicate nature of eye conditions demands a professional who has dedicated their career to this specific area of medicine. For Oregon pet owners facing complex eye issues, finding a compassionate and skilled specialist is a matter of critical importance, providing hope and a path forward for their beloved animal.

This breadth of knowledge allows for a comprehensive approach to treatment, addressing not just the immediate eye condition but also its potential connection to other systemic health issues. What makes Dr. Sarah Maxwell a worthy choice for your pet's health? The reviews from real clients provide the most compelling evidence. One pet owner shared a powerful story about their cat, Toby, who needed urgent and costly surgery. Dr. Maxwell, prioritizing Toby's well-being over financial gain, "recommended me to start calling other offices to find a cheaper surgeon." The client noted that "she didn’t care about the money that she was losing, she wanted Toby better." This act of genuine compassion is a testament to her character and dedication. While another review mentioned a desire for more in-depth explanations, this is a common challenge in a specialist's practice where consultations can be complex and time-sensitive. However, the overwhelming positive feedback about her knowledge, kindness, and commitment to the animal's welfare makes her a premier choice for specialized care. For Oregon residents who are looking for an expert in eye conditions or need a skilled surgeon for complex procedures, Dr. Sarah Maxwell provides a blend of professional excellence and heartfelt compassion that is truly invaluable.
