Sharon Lakes Animal Hospital Reviews
I’ve been bringing my dog to this vet off and on for a few years, but as many recent reviews suggest, things have definitely changed. Before booking an appointment, I called around to several clinics to compare prices for the services we needed. When I contacted Sharon Lakes, I was placed on hold while the receptionist confirmed pricing. When she returned, I was told the total cost of the visit would be $98.Imagine my surprise when I was handed a bill for over $300. I expressed my confusion and disappointment because this felt like a classic bait-and-switch. I had spent hours calling around for quotes, and I chose this clinic because it was nearby, reasonably priced (so I thought), and familiar to my dog.The only reason I’m not leaving a one-star review is because the staff were generally kind and professional during the visit. But the misleading pricing and unexpected charges, like a fee for “disposal” (of what, exactly?), left a really bad impression. Veterinary care is already expensive, and no one wants to deal with a sick pup, but to take advantage of people in an emergency is a new low.
Jul 03, 2025 · Dominique PrescottPetVet Care Centers - the corporate group that owns Sharon Lakes - will do what they do. Beloved vets I have worked with have all left because of how incompetent PetVet is at running a business, let alone a veterinary clinic, let alone hundreds. Corporate vet medicine so awful it is enough to radicalize an associate vet to find his own independent clinic to run to fight back against their pure, offensive incapability. Be aware - this clinic had 4 full-time veterinarians in 2018 and now have zero. Zero! How bad do you have to be to allow that? That is the reason you aren't seeing your vet. But don't worry! PetVet is so bad, they won't let you know and will even allow you to schedule with a vet that left 6 months prior online! Is it gaslighting and manipulation of a client base, or is it the Webster's Dictionary definition of incompetence? I'm not sure - which is worse? I'll put money on whatever that one is. FTR, the reason they don't address the complaints via replies to the reviews here and instead tell you to call a number (and then don't answer!!) is because they know they got nothing, they know it's true, and they can't clap back. So they feign care and hope it blows over.PetVet's raw incompetence has an upside - it has elucidated how imperative it is for independently-owned veterinary clinics to not only exist, but continue to carry the torch for the field. Just like your own doctors, you want to have a relationship with a doctor that knows you that you trust. You don't want to call and never hear back or finally hear back from someone in charge with no medical experience. I've heard Armstrong Animal Clinic is a great spot and that their owner is pretty good. Tell him I sent you.
Jun 20, 2025 · Joseph AquinoI have brought both my dogs here for years. The only reason they get 2 stars is because the staff has always been helpful and friendly. However, they must be under new ownership/management. I was able to schedule an appointment with my dogs' long time vet on their online portal. I specifically chose a date and time to see this particular vet. I find out today at the appointment that she has not worked there since the beginning of the year, but I was still able to select her specifically to book with. You're not "working on fixing that" - it's been nearly 6 months. It reeks of misleading people to the business. Always thought their prices seemed high, but they're now even higher AND they book appointments with vets that don't even work for them.I won't be back.
Jun 11, 2025 · Brennan CarpenterMy family has been taking our pets here since the 90’s, but due to recent events I will never return. I had both my dogs booked to board and have had the reservation months in advance. I received a mass email from Sharon Lakes stating that “boarding is temporarily paused as they are completing renovations and during this time they are unable to accept new reservations”. I thought for sure this would not apply to me as my trip was coming up in 2 weeks and there is no way they would do that and I never received a phone call stating otherwise. I decided I would at least check in just to be sure. The receptionist stated that this did apply to me and they would be unable to board my pets. She was very short and offered no apology. I understand it is not her fault and she did state that many others are upset over this but to not receive an apology is absurd. One of my pets is 15 and I only feel comfortable boarding him at a vets office. Because of this, we have been forced to cancel our trip we had booked over 6 months ago and we are all very disappointed. This place has got to be under new management/been bought out. The vets office we have trusted our pets with for so many decades would not do this.
Jun 15, 2025 · Mckinley ButlerI used this vet practice since 2014 but within the last 6 months or so ever veterinarian, vet tech, and front desk person has quit. At this point I don't believe there is a dedicated veterinarian who actually works at this location. With that being the case they should no longer be accepting orders for medications because they obviously can't fulfill them. I placed an order online for medication for my cat and after a week of them ignoring my calls I had to take him to another local vet office to get his medication refill. Absolutely no reason to use this practice.
