Picked my dog up after 5 days of boarding and I immediately noticed she looked weak and the fur on her head was brown and sticking up. (She’s white so it was very noticeable). I jokingly asked my dog “What’s going on with your hair?” and the worker said “She got into poop”. I said, “Wow, ok”….but I was confused because my dog doesn’t play in poop so it had to have been a really wild situation for it to get on TOP of her head. I walked outside to examine her and I can’t begin to describe the shock and anger. She had dried poop in various places all over her body and smelled horrible. I went back inside, visibly upset. The desk attendant agreed they shouldn’t have left her that way and took her back to be cleaned up. They must’ve used baby wipes because she came out a few minutes later still filthy and wreaking. I bottled my anger and decided to just wash her at home. After I washed her, she ran to the door and released the biggest, wettest poop I’ve ever seen! So that explained the poop stains and weakness. She has diarrhea. But then my second issue arose. WHY IN THE HECK DIDN’T THEY TELL ME SHE HAD DIARRHEA? She was obviously so runny that it got all over her. Who knows how long this had been going on. And they didn’t think to mention it! Instead they sent her home with dried feces all over her body. Even though I didn’t book a bath with her boarding, a good boarder would’ve called and said, “Hey, your dog’s having some stress diarrhea and it got pretty messy. Would you like me to add a bath to your account?” I would’ve gladly agreed and asked them to give her something for diarrhea too. Baird’s would’ve definitely done that. It’s common sense and good business practice! This is unacceptable. Needless to say I won’t be back. I called to speak to the kennel manager but I was told she wasn’t in. Maybe she’ll call tomorrow, who knows. The pics below are AFTER they “cleaned her up” so you can imagine what it was like when they first handed her to me. - Seauna Richardson

Choosing a veterinary hospital is a deeply personal decision, and for residents of North Carolina, Southeastern Veterinary Hospital offers a mix of services and qualities that make it a compelling option. The key reasons for choosing this hospital are its broad range of services and its long-standing reputation in the community. As noted on their website and other public platforms, they have been serving the area for over three decades, a testament to their stability and experience. The ability to provide care for both small and large animals is a unique advantage, especially in a region with a significant rural population. This versatility means that a single practice can serve all of a family's animal care needs, from their dog to their horse.

However, it is also important to consider all available feedback, which presents a mixed picture. While some clients, like the one who stated, "I love taking my puppy there and he loves it also," have had consistently positive experiences, other accounts raise serious concerns. One review for a boarding service describes a shocking experience where a dog was sent home with visible signs of illness and dried feces on its body, without the staff having mentioned the issue of diarrhea. This particular incident suggests a potential lapse in communication, attention to detail, and a lack of proactive care that is critical for a pet's well-being. The reviewer contrasts this experience with another local boarder, Baird's, which they feel would have handled the situation with more common sense and professionalism.

While the negative review is a powerful and concerning account, the positive reviews, like the one from the client who said, "Niko loves it here and they love him," indicate that many other clients have had wonderful experiences with the staff, finding them to be caring and professional. This suggests that the quality of service may be inconsistent, but when it's good, it's very good. For a pet owner in Lumberton, a thorough vetting process would be recommended, perhaps starting with a simple check-up to assess the staff's demeanor and the overall atmosphere before committing to more complex services like boarding. The hospital’s long history and comprehensive service offerings remain strong reasons to consider them, but a discerning client would take the more critical feedback into account and manage their expectations accordingly.
