Sunrise Animal Hospital offers several features and highlights, as indicated by customer experiences, that showcase their approach to veterinary care, particularly during sensitive times.
- Deep Compassion and Empathy in Difficult Times: A significant highlight is their extraordinary compassion during end-of-life care. One review vividly describes the staff's "deepest condolences and sympathy and heartfelt love" when a family was putting down their 15-year-old Australian Shepherd. The veterinarian's visible "love for her" despite never having met the dog before, and the unique act of asking to "pray for our animal before putting her to rest," exemplify an exceptional level of care and spiritual support that is rare and deeply appreciated by grieving families. This feature makes them particularly suitable for those navigating the profound loss of a pet. The gesture of sending home a paw print inked on a card with the pet's name further underscores their thoughtful and heartfelt approach during a family's moment of devastation.
- Supportive and Understanding Staff: The entire "group was absolutely wonderful how they treated our family," allowing "space in the backyard privately with my poochy to say goodbye." This indicates a staff that is not only medically proficient but also incredibly attuned to the emotional needs of pet owners during their most vulnerable moments.
- Commitment to Patient Comfort During Euthanasia: The review highlights that the vet was "very gentle and kind with both me and my doggy, explaining everything involved." This focus on gentle handling and clear communication ensures that the process is as peaceful and understandable as possible for both the pet and the grieving family.
However, it is important to acknowledge contrasting perspectives on diagnostic thoroughness. While some experiences highlight exceptional compassion, another review raised concerns about initial diagnostic assessments, describing a situation where a dog's severe shoulder pain was initially treated with only pain medication, leading to a delayed cancer diagnosis after a follow-up visit initiated by the owner. This suggests that while their compassionate care during end-of-life is highly praised, some clients have expressed concerns about the initial diagnostic depth in certain cases. This contrast highlights the variability in patient experiences and the importance of open communication between pet owners and the veterinary team.
Despite the differing experiences regarding diagnostic thoroughness, the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding their empathetic end-of-life care is a significant and consistent highlight, distinguishing them as a practice that prioritizes emotional support during a critical time for pet owners.

Sunrise Animal Hospital Reviews
We recently moved to this area and had to put our Australian Shepherd down of 15 years. It was quite devastating to our family. This group was absolutely wonderful how they treated our family with the deepest condolences and sympathy and heartfelt love as we were losing our pet/family member. We just can’t say enough. This was the first time the doctor has ever met our girl and the love the doctor had for her as he was getting ready to put her down. You truly saw. I have never had a veterinarian ask if he can pray for our animal Before putting her to rest. I said absolutely. I have never met a more caring practice in my life, especially at a time when you are grieving so deeply, knowing you have to put your animal to rest.
Jun 14, 2025 · Sandy Szocsawful! My parents have 2 dogs who have been at this vet for many years. My parents brought 1 of the dogs in for shoulder pain, he was limping bad & dragging his arm. they assessed him and prescribed pain meds. 4/5 days in we called to say his pain, limping and dragging of the arm has not improved at all, they said to continue the entire prescription through or if it makes him sick then stop. I did not feel the vet did his job, he is set in his ways and did not do a full thorough exam. my gut said it wasn't right so I took my parents dog back in before finishing the meds and explained how I felt. they took him back and did another exam to find out he in fact had cancer and said he had 3 months. my sweet boy passed 10 days later! The vet failed my family and our angel boy miserably! He was careless, lazy and did not do his job. I had later come to find out this was a common thing here and that the vet had a reputation of not doing his job to the fullest!
Feb 19, 2025 · M KSunrise Animal Hospital is by far one of the best veteran hospitals I've ever taken my dogs to. My dog Luna got very sick and they tried everything to help her. Even when I couldn't afford an office visit they still talked to me about her and gave her some different medications to try. My old vet would have never done that. They would have made me bring her in for an office visit. In the end I had to put my Luna girl to sleep cause everything we tried to do was not helping her and she was in lots of pain and was suffering. I her cremated and I wanted to get her ashes back for my youngest son. However I was not expecting to get back what I did. I got a very nice wooden box with her ashes and a nice little paw print ornament that was made from her paw print. I was very touched by the extra care and compassion that they had for me and my family in this tough time. I also received a very nice and very touching sympathy card signed personally by everyone at the vet's office I'd like to say thank you very much to everyone at Sunrise Animal Hospital.
May 22, 2019 · Matt McGonigalDon't expect to get in here for any reason if you're not a current customer. I've watched them turn several people away while waiting. That being said, if your lucky enough to have this vet take care of your pets, you're in good hands. Saved my cats life, and has always been good with our other animals.
