When a pet requires immediate medical attention in Texas, the Animal Emergency Center of Killeen is worth choosing for several compelling reasons, despite some of the concerning reviews that suggest inconsistencies in client-facing care. The most significant factor is their specialization in emergency and critical care. Unlike a standard vet clinic, this facility is structured to handle urgent, often life-threatening situations. The one customer review provided that highlights a successful emergency surgery for a serious infection is a powerful testament to their clinical capabilities. The fact that the dog was able to have the procedure and recover quickly is an excellent example of the prompt, life-saving care they can provide.
Furthermore, their advanced on-site diagnostic tools and surgical capabilities are invaluable during a pet crisis. The ability to perform digital radiography, ultrasound, and lab work in-house means that a diagnosis can be made and a treatment plan started in a fraction of the time it would take at a facility that needs to send out tests. For conditions like an infection or foreign body ingestion, this speed can be the key to a positive outcome. The online pharmacy is another practical benefit, adding a layer of convenience during a difficult time. While the negative review raises valid concerns about staff demeanor and the pet's well-being during a non-life-threatening visit, it is important for a pet owner to weigh these aspects against the facility's core purpose: to provide professional and prompt care for true emergencies. For a pet with a critical condition, the specialized, immediate care offered here could be exactly what is needed, and that is what makes them a vital choice for the Killeen community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Couldn't be more happier with the care and treatment given to my dog. They had to do emergency surgery to remove an infection caused by a feral cat scratch. The next day, the dog and this owner are doing fine. Highly recommend this service if you have an emergency requiring prompt care. Kudos to all the staff.
May 19 · Paul EspositoUnfortunately, I was deeply disappointed by the level of care provided to my cat during her visit. I brought her in because she was experiencing frequent vomiting. What was most troubling, was the apparent lack of urgency or concern from the staff. She stayed an unnecessarily amount of time in the back area & it took even longer time to be seen; even though we were the only visitors there. When my cat was taken, the noise emanating from the area from my cat were quite unsettling; followed by audible laughter from the staff (only staff who actually showed an ounce of care or compassion was the host in front, a very nice lady). Ive been to many veterinarian centers before and I have heard unpleasant sounds coming from the area where they operate but definitely not like that. I initially considered addressing the situation by entering the area directly, but remained respectful and knocked on the door instead. After literally five minutes, my cat was returned to me. She looked very, very scared. I know my cat, and I definitely know when something is amiss. I was extremely upset but I remained calm, knowing that I would never be returning. I love my cat and I didn’t want to cause a scene, with my husband also beside me. But, I knew for certain I would never be returning here.As a pet owner who values the well-being of my animals, I would strongly advise reconsidering this facility if you are seeking a place that truly demonstrates compassion and professionalism. My rating ain’t long for nothing! Trust me if you love your pets, please stay away from this place. I would hate for anyone to have the same experience I did. The staff needs to do better. For most people, pets aren’t just pets, they’re apart of someone’s family. We’re already worried and concerned about bringing our pets to be seen in the first place, they should be relieving the pet owners stress NOT ADDING TO IT !
August 17 · Albershena ThomasUnderstand this is an emergency service but charging double is wild! Quoted $1000 for stitching up my dog’s leg is wild. How are people expected to take care of their pets? Got him into his vet the next morning and quoted $500 and that included putting him under General anesthesia. I understand paying more but double is so disappointing. Annoyed I had to pay $140 to see a vet for 60 seconds. Do better.
August 30 · Christie LangHad to go in for an emergency visit with my dog. The service was great Mimi the vet tech was amazing at putting me at ease. Overall the entire staff from receptionist to vet doctor were amazing and my dog diagnosis was accurate as well as medication. Would recommend
August 18 · Marisela CortezI found a stray cat with an injured leg and a high fever, so I brought him to the Animal Emergency Center (AEC) of Kileen. From the second we areived to the AEC this stray cat was treated with care and respect and not just as another stray from the receptionist to the Vet.The KEC saw him immediately and did only what needed to be done avoiding a high bill. The stray, now name Andy, is almost fully recovered and starting to play. Thank you to all the staff at KEC. One more stray gets to live.
