- Customer Experience Concerns: It is crucial for prospective clients to be aware of significant concerns expressed in customer reviews. A prominent review describes a devastating experience where an older dog allegedly deteriorated rapidly and ultimately passed away after a rabies vaccine administered during a wellness check for a possible UTI. The owner reports being pressured into the vaccine, then denied help when the dog's health declined without "thousands of dollars," and highlights concerns about the facility's response to an urgent situation. This review also points to allegations of a "history of neglect" and "legal problems" associated with the franchise. Another review indicates dissatisfaction with scheduling practices, highlighting issues with appointment cancellations even for urgent cases. Other common criticisms reported across Banfield locations, as seen in broader public reviews, include:
- Difficulty canceling wellness plans, often with demands for retroactive full payment of services if canceled mid-term.
- Perceived "upselling" of unnecessary tests or services.
- Poor communication from staff, including unreturned phone calls and inconsistent information.
- Long wait times and rushed appointments.
- Concerns regarding staff knowledge and professionalism, particularly at the front desk.
- Issues with billing discrepancies and unexpected charges.
- Allegations of focus on profit over animal welfare, leading to concerns about quality of care.
- Positive Client Relationships: Despite the criticisms, one review specifically praises "Dr. Odum and her team for taking the best care of TJ whenever he comes in," indicating that positive individual relationships with specific veterinarians and staff can exist and contribute to a good experience for some pet owners.

Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews
This place BAN-FIELD BRICK KILLED my baby!!! She was an older dog and had a physical the same day. The vet gave paperwork & said she had typical aging but was overall a healthy dog!! I was given an ultimatum to give her the rabies vaccine or she would not be able to be seen for her possible UT!!! After that vaccine, her body started deteriorating instantly! I went back the next day with my baby clinging to life & BEGGED FOR HELP and was told if I didn't have thousands of dollars, they would not help me!! My baby tried to hang on. I syringe-fed her, massaged her, but she lost so much muscle mass, weight, and eventually, she left me!! I am heartbroken,💔💔💔💔💔💔 living with guilt, and I feel like a part of my heart died with her!! I am so sad, and after researching and realizing this franchise has a history of neglect, I feel so bad and like I failed my baby! I am writing this review as tears pour down my face and hoping others learn from my mistake!! TAKE YOUR DOG SOMEWHERE ELSE!! My baby went from an overall healthy dog to being able to see her ribs, spine, having eating problems, not being able to remember her favorite words, and major cognitive decline. Don't do it!! Save your baby!! Maybe this is how they treat patients with black owners or maybe they are not fit for the job after seeing how many times they've been sued and the legal problems BANFIELD is associated with!! All it takes is a simple google search & you can save your pet! Before and after pics showing how she deteriorated & no one helped me!!
Dec 02, 2024 · L HI love Dr. Odum and her team for the taking the best care of TJ whenever he comes in. Both TJ and I love you all and say Thank you 🐾😊🐾
May 22, 2025 · Rhonda CoppolaI would give this a zero star rating if I could. DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE!!!! My boyfriend and my sister had taken our recently new 3 month old puppy here to get checked out while I was at work. Our appointment time was for 2pm today, they had called my boyfriend saying that the appointment time didnt work for them so they had asked if we could change our time to 8:30-11 am. I live 30 mins away from this place so they had to call them back up saying they was gonna be late, then they said we could not accommodate for us being late and then gave us our original appointment time back even though they said that time would not work for them. We went there to get our new puppy checked out that we had adopted from the pet center in old bridge nj. When they went back there to be seen, they had told them that the vaccine record that they had given her that was all up to date, they workers there told them that her shots were not vaild because it did not come from a real vet so bassicly the shots she got meant nothing and that we had to get her all the same shots again even though she has just gotten them not that long ago, but apparently they were not valid even though they were. She is only 3 months old weighing just 2.8 lbs, they were gonna end up killing our puppy by trying to make us redo all the shots that she had just gotten. I would never come back here again. Worst place to bring your pets. Don't trust a single thing they say. I would never recommend anyone to come here, as these people are terrible and dont know what the hell the are actually doing, probably not even licensed workers.
Mar 12, 2025 · Morgan JolstadI had two incredibly disturbing visits at Banfield in brick, New Jersey. Both visits involved dr Mohima Dev. The second visit involved a family member of hers. They both argued aggressively in front of me about whether Roma needed a fecal exam. On my first visit I was told I can come back and drop off a fecal sample and pay for the test but not a visit. When I set up my fecal drop off not only was I told I had to pay for another visit I also had to pay for a blood test. I was never told about this blood test. I was desperate because I needed Roma’s flea and tick medication. I believe this boy hurt Roma while drawing blood. It took him several minutes. He claimed to be having “a bad day”. Both visits were very unprofessional and made me uncomfortable. I will not be bringing Roma back and I am letting everyone know about what a terrible experience Roma and I had.
May 15, 2025 · Francesco PavoneI am extremely disappointed with my experience at Banfield Pet Hospital in Brick, NJ. I was clearly told by staff that I only needed to bring in a fecal sample and pay for the test—no mention of an additional visit or extra charges. Now I’m being told I must pay for both an expensive office visit and another test. This kind of bait-and-switch is unacceptable. Dr. Mohima Dev, in particular, demonstrated a lack of transparency and seemed more focused on money than the well-being of my dog. I cannot recommend this location to any responsible pet owner.
