★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I brought my Sphynx cat, Ra, to Shiloh Veterinary Clinic for a scheduled dental cleaning and potential extractions at 8:30 AM. I followed their instructions and made sure he had no food after 8 PM the night before. Upon arrival, I was informed that the vet who was supposed to perform the procedure had called in sick. A replacement vet from another office was expected around noon.I asked if I could bring Ra back closer to the new estimated time, but they said no. They weren’t certain when the vet would actually arrive, and wanted to have him there “ready” and still fasting. I was told he would have to wait in a cage or in his carrier with his blanket until the vet could see him. I felt uneasy leaving him, but tried to trust the process and reminded them I had approved blood work for anesthesia. They responded that since blood work had been done in March (it’s now June), it wouldn’t be needed. At 11:30 AM, I called to check in. I was told he was “fine” and “waiting his turn.” At 2 PM, still no update, so I called again. This time I was told without a clear timeframe that he was “next” but they couldn’t say when exactly. When I asked how they could say “soon” with no timeline, they transferred me to the vet. He explained he was behind because of multiple procedures and extractions that day, apologized for the inconvenience and said it was probably best to reschedule. This was not an emergency procedure, and I strongly believe I should have been given the option to reschedule earlier. My cat had been fasting since 8 PM the night before and confined for over five hours by the time I spoke to the vet. That’s a serious concern not just an inconvenience.I picked Ra up immediately. Afterwards, I called another veterinary clinic (my mother’s vet) and explained the situation. They were shocked. They said anesthesia requires blood work from within the last 30 days, as health status can change month to month, especially in cats. They also said that for elective procedures requiring anesthesia, they only schedule two per day, one for 8:30 AM and another later, and ensure recovery and monitoring are completed well before the end of the day. That approach gave me far more confidence and peace of mind.Ra is four years old and cats of that age should not be showing any signs that would justify extractions. The second vet recommended a proper consultation before moving forward with any procedures.I found Shiloh’s communication lacking, the scheduling careless, and the handling of my pet’s care frustrating and concerning. The decision to not call and give me a choice to reschedule was a significant lapse in judgment. I hope they reconsider how they manage non-emergency procedures, our pets deserve better.
June 27 · alexandria boydSaved my cat’s life by helping figure out how to lower the cost of a life saving emergency surgery that I otherwise would not have been able to afford. I left work to meet my partner at the vet thinking I would be saying goodbye to her that day. It’s almost 3 days later and she’s curled up on my lap kneading my thigh so hard it hurts(It took her a little time to forgive me tho)
May 12 · Doris McBrideShiloh has been our go-to vet for many, many years. They are quick to respond, very compassionate and caring. All the vets are top notch, too!
April 16 · Mark PWe saw Dr Baird for a consultation and acupuncture. She treated my animals with compassion and care. My dog actually relaxed and almost fell asleep. The support staff was great as well. Thank you for great holistic care.
July 31 · nadine markauMy dog Solo has no idea he's a dog. He's just short and badly needs to shave. Recently we he took the day off from his self-appointed volunteer window security position, to get shots up at Shiloh. The treatment he receives there makes him feel like it's Doggy-Disney.The vets & staff are incredibly caring and knowledgeable about everything pet related. They offer prompt & professional services without ever making you feel like they are upselling or pressuring you into a treatment. That's so valuable. Of course Solo doesn't care about any of that because, TREATS! Atleast some of the medicines taste like it, and make him feel like l he just got off a ride at Magic Mountain. Ironically this last appointment was on 4-20. I'm writing at Solos request (since he couldn't find a pen). He wanted to encourage you to take your special humans to Shiloh Veterinary Hospital because you love them and they deserve a level of care that shows it. Oh, and because TREATS!
