Choosing the right veterinary provider is a deeply personal decision, and for those in the Phoenix area, VCA Mountain View Animal Hospital presents a strong option. The primary reason to consider this hospital is the sheer breadth of services it offers. The ability to receive everything from a simple check-up to complex orthopedic surgery and dental care in one location simplifies a pet owner's life and ensures consistency in their animal's medical history and care plan. This "one-stop-shop" model is incredibly convenient, especially for multi-pet households.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My scale wasn’t working at home and I brought my two foster puppies in to weigh them. They wouldn’t let me weigh the pups without an appointment. Most clinics aren’t that money hungry and will gladly allow you to weigh a pet. This was very disappointing considering I could easily do it myself.
May 28 · Charmore NeelyI was disappointed with my recent visit to VCA Animal Hospital Mountain View. Dr. Hatcher was disrespectful, dismissive, and condescending. For context, our cat does not do well with vet visits. We adopted her in 2021 when she was about 4 months old from the Arizona Humane Society. Her medical records stated that she hissed at vets and was difficult to handle. In 2022, when her annual exam and vaccines were due, I took her to VCA Animal Hospital (Northern) and unfortunately they had to sedate her. In 2023, the vet at VCA Animal Hospital (Northern) prescribed Gabapentin to be taken 2x prior to her appointment. I gave her the medication 2x, but she was still in distress during the visit. We consented to her being taken to the back where the vet was able to administer the vaccines. In 2024, I scheduled at VCA Animal Hospital (Mountain View) because the previous location closed. I was instructed to give her Gabapentin 2x prior to her visit. I gave her the medication 2x, but again she was upset the whole visit. We consented to her being taken to the back and we could hear our cat was upset. Dr. Hatcher was the vet during this visit and she was kind and understanding. She admitted our cat was difficult to handle but that it did not stop her from doing the exam or giving the vaccines. She said she was able to look into her mouth as our cat was hissing at her and even laughed about it. We were very thankful for her at the time and requested to see her for the next visit. When I called to make this year’s appointment, I reminded them about our cat’s behavior like I always do. I asked the person who scheduled me to remind me of the timing for the medication and she said it was 12 hrs before and 2 hrs before. She added - unprompted - that the dose for 12 hrs before was recommended but not necessary. The earliest available appointment with Dr. Hatcher was on a Saturday at 2 p.m. I was unable to give her the 12 hrs before dose, but was not overly concerned based on what I was told on the phone. Although I had given our cat both doses in the past, I went against my better judgement and listened to the medical professional on the other side of the phone. The appointment went as expected. Our cat was upset, like every previous visit when I HAD given her both doses. I reminded the vet tech that if sedation was necessary, I would consent to it to alleviate our cat’s distress. Again, we consented to her being taken to the back. Again, we heard hissing and other noises indicative of distress. When Dr. Hatcher entered the room, she was visibly upset and her tone was rude and condescending. She was quick to reprimand me for not giving our cat both doses. I repeated to her the information I received from her staff when I asked about the medication. She said that I still should have given her both doses because I knew my cat the best. She was able to administer the vaccine ($78.50) and do most of the exam. The ONLY thing she was NOT able to do was look into our cat’s mouth. I was going to remind her that last year was just as difficult with both doses, but she cut me off. Although she admitted she wasn’t able to perform the exam in its entirety, she still charged me for the exam in its entirety ($113.85). I paid for the vaccine and the incomplete exam.I take full responsibility for not going with my gut and giving our cat both doses. However, there are respectful ways to communicate. If Dr. Hatcher felt unsafe, she could have asked me to reschedule. However, rescheduling was never presented to me as an option. Sedation was never presented to me as an option. Instead, she performed a half-competent exam, got upset, stomped into the room, owner-shamed me for listening to the advice of her staff, and still charged me the full amount. Her whole demeanor and attitude was uncalled for. I would never knowingly put our cat or the staff in an unsafe situation. She never acknowledged that her staff gave me inaccurate information and she never presented other options. If you are looking for a patient and understanding vet, please look elsewhere.
March 23 · Leticia PinedaI brought my senior pet, Dorito, in for an exam and a Solensia injection. The staff was fantastic and Dr. Hatcher was so gentle with her while she kindly answered all of my questions! They treated my sweet old lady like she was their own and gave her lots of snuggles. The team was even nice enough to offer to brush a couple of her mats out. I have previously taken, Dorito, to VCA Del Lago and their Urgent Care location and I'm happy to report I will be continuing her care with VCA Mountain View!!
February 20 · Morgan PittOutrageously expensive!! My elderly mother took her two small dogs there for a check up and an ear cleaning. It was over $500 just for their visit and ear cleaning on two dogs under 15 lbs. They charged $126/each for an exam.
January 24 · Amy CallahanI went to VCA Mountain View after adopting a kitten from the AZ humane society, as VCA gracious offered a free visit to each newly adopted animal, and I have kept going back. You can tell that the vets really care and the staff is always friendly. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a vet.
