Their core strength lies in their ability to travel directly to farms and properties across a significant service area within North Carolina. This eliminates the logistical complexities and inherent stress of transporting large or injured animals, which can be a monumental task for farm owners.
Their service area typically covers Randolph County and surrounding regions, including communities like Ramseur, Siler City, Denton, and parts of Greensboro and High Point, depending on the specific needs and distance. This on-site model is invaluable for routine wellness checks, emergency situations involving large animals, and for maintaining herd health. Scarlett Mobile Large Animal Services is dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of veterinary care specifically for large animals and livestock. While specific detailed lists of all services are often tailored to individual farm needs, a reputable mobile large animal practice generally offers a broad spectrum of medical, diagnostic, and preventative services on-site. Based on their specialization, services likely include:
- Routine Wellness & Preventative Care: This is fundamental for maintaining herd health and individual animal well-being. Includes physical examinations, vaccinations (tailored to specific farm needs and local disease prevalence), deworming programs, and nutritional consultations.
- Emergency Services: Responding to urgent and critical situations involving large animals, such as injuries, acute illnesses, colic in horses, birthing difficulties (dystocia), and other time-sensitive medical conditions. Their mobile nature is particularly crucial for these types of calls.
- Diagnostics: Utilizing mobile diagnostic tools for on-site assessment, which may include portable digital X-ray for lameness evaluations, portable ultrasound for reproductive exams or soft tissue assessment, and on-site collection of samples for laboratory analysis (blood tests, fecal exams, cultures).
- Reproductive Services: For breeding operations, this can include pregnancy diagnosis (palpation and ultrasound), artificial insemination support, breeding soundness exams for males and females, and assistance with difficult births.
- Lameness Evaluations: Comprehensive assessment of lameness in horses and other large animals, involving physical examination, flexion tests, and diagnostic imaging to pinpoint the source of discomfort.
- Minor Surgical Procedures: Performing routine surgeries directly on the farm, such as castrations, laceration repairs, and other field surgeries that do not require a sterile operating room environment.
- Herd Health Management: Developing and implementing health protocols for entire herds or flocks, focusing on disease prevention, biosecurity, and improving overall animal productivity.
- Equine Specific Services: Beyond general large animal care, this often includes pre-purchase exams, Coggins testing (for Equine Infectious Anemia), and dental care (floating teeth).
- Education & Consultation: Providing valuable advice and guidance to farm owners and animal caregivers on best practices for animal husbandry, nutrition, and preventative health.
- Euthanasia Services: Offering compassionate end-of-life care for large animals in their familiar environment, which can be a comforting option for owners.

- Support for Animal Care Providers: The provision of "medication and instructions to our new animal care providers" indicates a willingness to work collaboratively with on-site caregivers, ensuring continuity of care.
While one review did express significant dissatisfaction and detailed concerns regarding a specific incident and communication issues with Dr. Brent and later Dr. Britt regarding a donkey's care and a payment dispute, it's important to note that other reviews highlight positive experiences with Dr. Briggs and the overall service. These concerns point to potential areas for internal review regarding client communication, handling of difficult cases, and staff consistency in approach. However, the core service of providing mobile large animal veterinary care remains a valuable offering to the North Carolina community.

Mar 19, 2025 · Henry CaseyI take care of most of the business regarding the farm as the owner is a very busy man and frequently travels.I called Scarlett Mobile when one of our donkeys who was in with the horses got caught in the fence and fell down. Dr. Brent was the closest to the farm and came on out for our emergency, because the donkey would not get back up. This Dr. Brent wanted to put down the donkey from the very beginning. Even Dr. Brent said there was not a mark on Fred (donkey)or anything that looked broken or damaged. Dr. Britt came out the next day and checked on Fred, gave medication and instructions to our new animal care providers - which they followed to a "T". The donkey was only two years old, and we wanted to save him if possible. The caregiver called to tell me Fred was getting bad, so I called Scarlett Mobile to have someone come out and see if he had any chance at all. The end result was that Dr. Brent called the owner, chewed him out, and animal control was out there the next morning. From my point of view, Dr. Brent from Scarlett Mobile caused the "investigation" because we were hoping to save a donkey that still had baby teeth. AND I had cops threatening to issue animal cruelty charges on the people who are taking such wonderful care of all the animals.Dr. Brent will never set foot on our property again or I will have him arrested for trespassing or anything else I can think up. Now the regular vet, Dr. Britt, who I thought of as a professional, caring vet, knew all about the situation with the Fred. She came out last week and her invoice fell through the cracks and has not been paid. The credit card on file declined (I don't know why yet) and even though she has never has a payment issue with us before, is demanding payment because, get this, she is doing keeping an eye on our animals because of "The Investigation", completely forgetting or ignoring the fact that this company started it.I don't need a lecture from Scarlett Mobile over a payment issue I just found about, all of us need an apology for what their unprofessional, arrogant Dr. Brent has put us through.
Mar 18, 2025 · Tina McLaughlinVery happy with all the care, compassion and thoroughness my horse has received from Scarlett Mobile. Timely and efficient! Local which I really appreciate.
Jun 13, 2025 · Barbara BeckOur regular vet was not available when one of our Nubian goats experienced complications during labor. Shortly after I left a panicky voicemail with Scarlett, I got a text from Pam and within an hour Dr. Briggs and her assistant Shanna arrived. They helped deliver three(!) breeched doelings. Dr. Briggs and Shanna were very professional, calm, yet expedient in providing excellent care to our doe and her kids.
