James River Veterinary Surgery Reviews
We live on the Eastern Shore of VA and our cat Mavis had a large mass in her ear canal and needed TECA surgery. Our vet recommended JRVS and we are so happy they did. They were very accommodating and allowed us to do a consult and surgery same day where we had a 3 hour drive. They have been super responsive to my emails during her healing process. She is a totally different cat, running and playing like a kitten. She has never been more spry. Thank you for making my girl feel better!!
Mar 30, 2025 · Mccaela holtWords cannot express how grateful we are for Dr Roy Barnes. Our dog Wally unexpectedly ate a sock. Dr Roy Barnes had a full surgery schedule the next day but came in early to perform his surgery. He was extremely confident and the surgery went well. Wally's stitches are now out and is doing great. Our primary vet told us Dr Roy Barnes is a "legend" which should give you all the confidence you need if your pet needs surgery.
Jun 18, 2025 · Timothy LaddMy dog had to get TPLO surgery. He is a very nervous and scared vet goer but James River was always so great with him. The answered all my questions and really helped me throughout his recovery. Would highly reccomend coming here.
Jun 30, 2025 · Coleman EppsWe took our dog here for surgery. The minute we booked the appointment to now through the recovery phase nothing has been too much trouble, they take their time. They always return phone calls and emails promptly. The day of the surgery the vet and all the staff were so kind. You can tell they all love their job, appreciate their kindness during a stressful time and for being thete every step of the way during recovery with tips and encouragement. We appreciate you. Thank you. Highly recommend.
Feb 24, 2025 · Lisa KayI HIGHLY RECOMMEND James River for your pet’s care. I took my foster dog here for surgery and was blown away by the care and bedside manner. Everyone truly cared about my dog and acted as if they were taking care of their dog. The surgeon was so gracious to me and took his time explaining things to me. My foster had heart surgery and I was not nervous at all while she was in their care. I felt so comfortable with her there. (Don’t get me wrong, I was concerned for her, but at peace knowing she was getting the best care possible.) I also found that their pricing was very reasonable. What would have cost $10k+ in Northern VA was only a couple thousand. James River will be my go-to for any specialized services for my pets and fosters.
