What is worth choosing
Choosing a veterinary clinic involves considering both the quality of medical care and the overall client experience. Based on customer feedback, the Mexia Veterinary Clinic has a staff that is commended for their kindness and professionalism. One client expressed their gratitude, thanking the staff "for their kindness yesterday during our difficult time with Bear" and for being "sincere and kind to our family." This speaks to the compassionate and empathetic nature of the clinic's front-line team, which is especially crucial when pet owners are facing an emotional or stressful situation. The review also highlights the front desk staff as "fantastic," "very friendly, attentive, animal lovers and very professional," which are all positive attributes that create a welcoming and supportive environment from the moment a client walks in.
However, it is also important to consider varied perspectives when evaluating a business. While the front desk staff is highly praised, one review detailed a negative experience with a specific vet's communication and professional conduct. The client expressed discomfort with the vet taking their farm dog to a back room for shots without explanation and noted a significant disagreement regarding the accessibility and quality of vaccines from sources like TSC. The vet's assertion that store-bought vaccines are "watered down" was deemed factually incorrect by the client, who pointed out the true issue is handling and efficacy, not potency. This lack of transparency and misinformation led the client to lose respect for the clinic and decide not to return with their other animals. This feedback serves as a reminder that consistency across all staff members, particularly veterinarians, is crucial for building and maintaining client trust. For potential clients, it is important to weigh all aspects of the service, from the compassionate and friendly support staff to the professional communication and medical advice from the veterinarians. The Mexia Veterinary Clinic appears to have a strong and positive front-office presence, and for many clients, this may be a significant factor in their choice.

Mexia Veterinary Clinic Reviews
I want to thank the staff at Mexia Veterinary for their kindness yesterday during our difficult time with Bear. Thank you for being sincere and kind to our family.
April 22 · jen swindelluuThe front desk staff were fantastic. Very friendly, attentive, animal lovers and very professional. The vet that I saw, I personally wouldn't go to. I took a farm dog in for puppy shots, so it really didn't bother me much that they took him out of the room that I was in, and to a back room, then closed the door- to give the pup his shots. I would lose my mind if a vet ever did that with my personal dog! He didn't ask, didn't really find out any of my wants/needs or anything from me.After he brought the puppy back in, he set another appointment for a booster shot. When I asked if I could purchase the vaccine and administer it myself, he said that I can't do that, I have to have a prescription. That's not true. He then told me that "tsc has watered down vaccines" This is 100% UNTRUE. The actual problem with buying a vaccine from tsc, a feed store or a catalog- vaccines are not guaranteed to have been properly handled and thus effective or sourcing unknown. You can buy these vaccines from an online store or feed store without a prescription, with no back up from the company if ineffective or the animal has a reaction. The difference being that vets get directly from distributor/manufacturer and if come in warm/hot/bad date, etc, won't use them and send them back. They could be sitting for days in a warehouse without refrigeration at a catalog company or TSC. So yes, you have more insurance the vaccine was properly handled and have some back up if it is ineffective if you get it from the vet, but they are not prescription and not watered down.So a vet that is giving statements like these, discredits him to me. I understand the liability of taking a vaccine off property where a vet can't be sure of the handling and administration of that vaccine, but that wasn't part of our conversation. So unfortunately this clinic lost my respect and I won't even bring a farm dog here, let alone my horses and personal animals.
April 26 · Ashlie DiegoNice vet clinic that cares about your pets and wants to make sure they get all the support they need. Prices are kind of high but I understand they are in a rural area. They did let me know of coupons online for my dogs future prescriptions. I will gladly take my pet here again.
January 29 · Nikki NoodleTook my healthy 6 mo old puppy in to get spayed and now she's DEAD.... I have taken her Bennett's 3 times prior for all her puppy shots and not once was a vet actually there to do a physical. They NEVER did any blood work to make sure she didn't have any underlying health issues before they did her spay surgery... DO NOT TRUST YOUR FUR BABIES TO THIS BUTCHER SHOP... their gross neglect killed my baby..
March 25 · Christina KierDr. van Reenen did an amazing job with Charlie Oliver! She was very patient and explained everything in detail! I know my family and I appreciate having her here in Mexia! I’m sure it’s hard coming in for Doc. Bennett who was an amazing vet and great family friend! He is greatly missed but it’s so nice having someone like Dr. van Reenen here! 🙏🏽😇🐶 Best of luck!
