★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1After a not so great experience at another Vet place. I found District Veterinary in Navy Yard and from the moment I called to schedule an appointment and inquire about initial exam fee to every encounter since I knew I made the right choice in bringing my cat here. The care, attention and love they showed Onyx (my cat) spoke volumes to me. I could tell they actually cared for his well being and weren’t just feeding me exams to charge me more. For context, Onyx hates being carried and I could not believe he was the same cat allowing the nurse to cuddle him and carry him out the room with him in arms to take his bloodwork. Animals instinctively know good ppl and who to trust. It was enough for me to also trust them (as well as to be a bit jealous).I returned a fews days later to pick up a refill and the minute I walked in the receptionist immediately recognized me and confirmed it was for Onyx. I can’t imagine the number of pets they see a day, something as simple as remembering who I was and my pet's name showed how much they care for each patient. Can’t say enough good things about Dr. Walker and the time and patience she took to explain everything to me and email me personally with Onyx exam results.Safe to say I found my babies Vet, as I will be coming here for all of their needs in the future.Thank you all again!
June 08 · G LThe entire staff is 100+% committed to pet care and owner peace of mind. They are very responsive in the most timely manner possible. I've lived in the District since 1978 [47years] and District Vet ranks at the very top of all the vets I"ve used. Highly recommended without any reservations.
June 26 · Mark FischerWe moved to the area from overseas a year ago, and District Vet Navy Yard has been wonderful. All the staff and our labrador’s specific vet are so professional and kind. They listen openly, they answer all questions well, and they genuinely care. The communication and follow through has also been impressive. Highly recommend!
May 08 · Mary PfeifferI would not recommend District Vet to current or future pet owners. We have been a patient for the last 3 years, but the most recent experience was the last straw. We took our dog to District Vet for his annual exam in January, and they completely mixed up his appointment, which was allegedly due to a new booking system that somehow erased our appointment from the system. After waiting nearly an hour to be seen, the vet technician was going over our dog’s scheduled vaccines, which we realized were not correct, and it turns out they had gotten our dog mixed up with another dog with the same first name, and had printed out and were going over a different dogs vet records with us, who was a different size and breed. Thankfully, we caught this and pointed it out, and they didn’t give him the wrong vaccines! Due to being pressed for time, the vet performed her exam in the back room, and discovered a broken tooth and decided to take extra blood for his pre-operative blood work before even consulting us about the broken tooth. This was not authorized by us beforehand, and was tacked on to our bill for an additional $165. As a result of this negative experience, we were unsure if we wanted to move forward with the surgery at District Vet, but we scheduled it anyways which was getting scheduled for 2 months out. On January 27th we discussed that there were openings on March 13th and March 20th, and decided to schedule it on the 20th due to my husband’s work travel (he was also present at the time of scheduling). After this incident, I had called back to discuss my frustration with taking the bloodwork without authorization, and charging us an additional fee that was not disclosed ahead of time. At this time I spoke with the manager, she realized they forgot to charge us for the fecal exam and waived that fee, as well as another service that the vet told us would be comped due to the inconvenience we had already experienced. We also discussed on the phone the upcoming surgery (tooth extraction) that was scheduled for our dog in March. The surgery was supposed to be this week, and guess what? When I called to confirm the appointment they once again had no record of the appointment in the system. They said we would’ve paid a deposit if it was scheduled, but nobody asked us for one at the time of booking. Both my husband and I put it in our calendars, and I thought it was odd that I never saw a reminder so I decided to follow up. Also, in the weeks leading up to this I received automated texts saying my dog is overdue for health services, which is not correct, he was just seen in January. So now, we have no surgery appointment scheduled, and are out $165. It was also advised for the surgery to be performed in the next few months, as a broken tooth presents a risk of getting infected.Last week I asked to speak about this second scheduling error with a manager and the manager was supposed to call me back. She never called me back. Which is honestly appalling - horrible customer service! And the cost is just too high to justify us giving them any more money. Our annual exam appointment total cost was nearly $700.If District Vet cannot even keep track of their appointments and made multiple errors with the same dog, I certainly do not entrust them with the care of my dog and to administer anesthesia to my beloved fur child, he is my whole heart!!!
March 17 · Caroline ClementsIf I could give The District Vet at Navy Yard 1,000+ stars, I would!! I am so thankful to have found District Vet, as they welcomed my newly rescued dog, Jupiter, with open arms despite his various quirks. A major shoutout for Dr. Walker and D’Yana working with us from the very beginning, and providing Jupiter with top of the line care, patience, and love! The entire staff is amazing, and beyond helpful. One of the hardest parts of moving away from the area was leaving the District Vet team behind. 100% would recommend trusting this team with your fur babies!
